Last week we were @ Tanjore for attending a marriage.
Thanjavur is one of the fertile belts of Tamil Nadu. Tanjore is present in the
Cauvery belt. Another speciality about this region is the temples build by Cholas and Pandyas.
Brahadeeswarar Temple [a.k.a Peruvudaiyar Temple a.k.a Thanjai Periya Koil] is one of the great temples built during the 10th century. The temple was built by Raja Raja Cholan? I. Like most temples, this too have walls like the palace to hide and fight against the rivals. The walls seems to be built later duing the 16th century during the Pandiya era.
Some uniqueness about this Temple:
- The Temple Tower was biggest of this kind.
- The Gopuram [Temple Tower]? was built in a single rock.
- There are scripts that says that the single rock has been transported from a 6 KM using some special transport facilities.
- The vimana never cast its shadow on the ground @ noon during any time of the year. This is one of the greatest design that takes the suns movement from Tropic of Cancer to the Capricon.
- Nandhi of the Periya avudaiyar is a big one.
The lord Shiva [My Favourite God] is the Periya Aavudayar present in the temple. The Lingam is tall and measures 13 feet in height. Do visit this temple if you happen to be there at Tanjore.
Another interesting place around Thanjavur is the GangaiKondaCholapuram. Hope to visit this place when I am out around this place next time. If anyone have any interesting thing about this place do write.

I was out to Bijapur this Diwali [Nov 7 2007]. Bijapur is a old city on the north borders of Karnataka. The city has history that back to 1500/1600 AD. The couple of days we spent there was very nice. We visited the great Gol Gumbaz which was the mausoleum of the ruler Adhil Shah. The monument has the largest unsupported dome. It also has the capacity to echo the smallest sound you make nine times. The history says that the king has built the monument to bury his remains after his death. The another one was the Imbrahim Rouza. This too is a monument built to hold the remains of the family of the Ahil Shah. Both the monuments hold a mosque for praying inside it. The nicest thing is that the entry fee is very less and the garden around the mausoleum is maintained very well. The king seems to be very interested in building large monuments which is still holding his name even after 400 years.
check out the photos the great monuments
cheers - Ranjith

Last wednesday[on the Independence day of India], we were out on a trip to Pazhaverkadu [ also called Pulicat Lake] a back water located at the border of Tamil Nadu and Andhra. On our way to the place, the tyre went flat with a help of a screw on the road. We put on the spare tyre and were forced to stop by a small place [ Medhuvoor]. The Puncture Walla showed us the tyre which has been damaged for a length of around 5 inches. He told that he need to do so called big puncture and demanded Rs 150/= With no choice left behind, we need to go for it. Wow that was nice that we witnessed a old art of Vulcanizing.
He pasted a long tube along the 5 inches. and kept it to dry for some time. At this point of time I had no clue what this guy is going to do and Is this for what this guy demanded 150/=??? [ Ooops this guy is cheating four of us ??]

He pressed the tubes together well and then took to the bench press. where he placed a wood and above which the tube with the extra tube attached side up. He then placed a piece of paper over it and placed the upper part of the press and tightened it. He poured some Oil over the top side container. To my astonishment, He litered the top container. It went for some time and He repeated the process once again. The extra piece of glue got attached as an integral part of the main tyre.

The press used.

The process. - The paper plays a major roll here of segregating the tube and the metal of the top side container.
A wonderful experience and learning.

We were there in Bangalore last week on a personal visit. I didn’t do much in a 24 hours stay there except a party @ lemon grass on Saturday evening and a small visit to Forum Mall sometime at Sunday noon. The drive up and down from chennai to Bangalore was awesome due to the day time travel along one of the roads of the
Golden_Quadrilateral surrounded by the hills. The little dark clouds on the skies added much more beauty to the drive. It will be nice if you happen to drive some time between 2 pm to 7 pm along this route towards bangalore.
Some of my perceptions :
- The weather is so nice to live with.
- The water resources are great.
- The costs are little high when compared to Chennai. You have to get a couple of extra Ls to manage in Bangalore.
- The traffic in the City is so horrible with lot of one ways and the traffic is much slow when compared to Chennai. Chennai has a pretty fast moving traffic on all the roads.
- The life shows to be much modern than Chennai.
Cheers - Ranjith
