It is not worth it ?? Your views !!!

Today morning, as usual I stopped by a Shop near by my house to have a cup of tea. I used to go to that shop often on my way to office. I had a cup of Tea, a couple of Samosa which comes around Rs 9/-. I gave a 10 Rupee note which the vendor placed it inside his cash box and kept quiet.

Me :- asked for the Re. 1/-
The guy:-  You took Coffee and the amount is leveled.
Me :- I took only a Tea which leaves a balance of Re 1/-.
The guy :- As you usually take only coffee, I calculated this way. He gave me the Re. 1/-

I am not sure what should be my reaction to this. Because not even a single instance, I have take coffee in that shop. I had no interest in explaining him I had never taken a coffee here. I thought of two things on walking back to my Car :

  • It makes no benefit for both of us to explain this to him. I don’t want to waste my time explaining him what I usually do.
  • Further if he has done this intentionally, I don’t want to pin point him and say you are wrong in a very morning time.

What is your view ?

Have a great Weekend !!!

Blog Idea # 2

I am against putting ads on my blog to make some revenue out of it. It is not that I don’t want to make money from my blog, but my feeling is that there will not be much clicks on to the ad displayed in the blog.
Some of the reason for making a wild guess are :

  • The rss technology has changed the way people read blogs today. The much sofisticated RSS Readers provide related feeds and makes people away from the actual web pages where the blogs are hosted.
  • Less than 1% of your blog readers gives a comment back for which they visit your website.
  • I never use to click on  or even view the ads placed on the google search unless I am doing a competitor comparison of where we stand against him and what ads he place in google.
  • The ads on Blog has changed from the goolge random ad model to the fixed ads for which the money is paid upfront on a monthly pixel basis.
  • Unless you are too much focused on a very particular subject, putting ads are waste.

pamphlets - Two problems !!

I see pamphlets as one of the big source of environmental pollution happening around. Today morning I was given a pamphlet on Computer education @ Appollo computer education which I didn’t receive in my hand as I know this ad is not going to do anything for me. This pamphlet is of no use to me. At the same time I was seeing a lot of this piece of paper around the place. These kind of pamphlets when received will lost not even for a minute in my hand. The same happens with every one around. A 2% of the right audience will receive this pamphlets. I think business men can look for some other form of marketing.

Think it causes:

  • environmental pollution as it uses tress as its source, and
  • polluting the locality.

It would be good if people can sense the necessity of the pamphlet before receiving it.

Good Things Happening in Chennai

After a long time, I was out to Nungambakkam for paying by SCB Card bill around 2 AM and all cars stopped at Red at the Nandanam Signal. I was quite amazed to see the situation. After having a short chat with my friend I came to know that some signals has been made mandatory around the clock. I was seeing Police men around the signal to check the violations too. It is good sign of improvement of traffic in Chennai.

People are already following signals during day time with some exceptions as people will always there on the other side too. If this is followed for a while I am sure people will start following signals by themselves at nights.

Looking forward for more good things in Chennai.
