East will jump to Mobile

I have a very strong belief that the Eastern world will jump quietly to the world of mobile with most people using computers skipping a couple of decades.

There was a good comment on the TechCrunch post of Google Gears and Zoho.

? ? ? ? ? ? It will be fun to see where this goes over time. Zoho is interesting, but what I really want to do is to use my phone to order and pay for a beer at the local bar - while I am still on my way there. Give me the ability to easily do that on a phone with more than single-digit market share and then you will have my interest.

More and more softwares pertaining to the usage in mobile are coming out and one such application is the recent launch of the E Commerce Application of Airtel with some of the banks. Airtel launches for the first time in India a range of M-Commerce solutions in a wide ranging partnership with HDFC bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Corporation Bank, VISA and mChek has more details on the story. As of now this service can be used to transfer money between credit/debit card, pay bills, recharge their phones, buy movie, air and buy rail tickets instantly.

In India, People already started using mobiles for more than just voice calls.

Mind - settling for Less

I was looking into a set of resumes for recruitment purpose for working in JavaScript/j2EE environment. I was seeing them in the order it displayed on my windows file explorer.

Resumes speaks before you speak to the employer. It is a mandate to make it the best of you. The first two resumes were good and was little more than my expectation. This makes me increase my baseline to these resumes. The mind is not ready to accept what I set as actual standards after those two resumes.

I am not sure whether this is a good sign or not. But I really fought a battle with my mind to select another candidate for the interview.

How do you feel ?

Cheers - Ranjith
