Quote of the Day - March 14

This is one of the excellent Quotes which got my attention instantly.

“Never explain yourseof to anyone, Because the person who ‘LIKES’ you doesn’t need it and the person who ‘DISLIKES’ you won’t believe it”

You don’t need to explain your way of life to anyone. Life is lived forward and the explanation has to go backward and collect some reference to explain the happenings. Explanation by meaning is always some justification you do to some one. Make sure you justify your life to yourself and not others.

Life is yours and live it the way you want.

SankaranKoil - Shiva + Vishnu

Last weekend I was there to SankaranKoil, A 900 year old temple and a 40 km drive from my village. The temple is under renovation. The walls are all weekend and there were plastering work going to strengthen it back. The walls of the temple were built in the same old way of putting some mortar in between the stones just to keep it intact there is no extra plastering work done around it as we do with brick and mortar today.  But the walls are given all round support to Stand.

About the temple :

The temple was built by UkiraPandian before 900 years and completed by his son Pulidevan. The temple was built as an answer to the fight of Shaivas [the devotees of Lord Shiva] and Vaishnavas [the devotees of Lord Vishnu]. The temple has an idol of ShankaraNarayanar, half Lord Shiva and half Lord Vishnu.

The general belief is that the Holy Sand “Puttrumann” that you get from this temple is capable of curing all the diseases. Devotees believe that Sankarankoil‘s Nagasunai (sacred tank) have been dug by serpent kings named Paduman and Sangam which has a miraculous power to heal those who bathe there. The Annadhanam scheme is being conducted in the temple when daily noon meals are being provided for around 100 devotees.

There are four famous festivals for this temple:

  • Chithhirai Bramotsava ( 10 days ) Every April
  • Adi thapasu festival ( 12 days ) August
  • Iyppasi Thirukkalyanam festival ( 10 days ) October
  • Theppam floating festival - Thai last Friday ( Every February )

History of the temple is from wikipedia.

East will jump to Mobile

I have a very strong belief that the Eastern world will jump quietly to the world of mobile with most people using computers skipping a couple of decades.

There was a good comment on the TechCrunch post of Google Gears and Zoho.

It will be fun to see where this goes over time. Zoho is interesting, but what I really want to do is to use my phone to order and pay for a beer at the local bar - while I am still on my way there. Give me the ability to easily do that on a phone with more than single-digit market share and then you will have my interest.

More and more softwares pertaining to the usage in mobile are coming out and one such application is the recent launch of the E Commerce Application of Airtel with some of the banks. Airtel launches for the first time in India a range of M-Commerce solutions in a wide ranging partnership with HDFC bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Corporation Bank, VISA and mChek has more details on the story. As of now this service can be used to transfer money between credit/debit card, pay bills, recharge their phones, buy movie, air and buy rail tickets instantly.

In India, People already started using mobiles for more than just voice calls.

Mind - settling for Less

I was looking into a set of resumes for recruitment purpose for working in JavaScript/j2EE environment. I was seeing them in the order it displayed on my windows file explorer.

Resumes speaks before you speak to the employer. It is a mandate to make it the best of you. The first two resumes were good and was little more than my expectation. This makes me increase my baseline to these resumes. The mind is not ready to accept what I set as actual standards after those two resumes.

I am not sure whether this is a good sign or not. But I really fought a battle with my mind to select another candidate for the interview.

How do you feel ?
