Last week we were @ Tanjore for attending a marriage.
Thanjavur is one of the fertile belts of Tamil Nadu. Tanjore is present in the
Cauvery belt. Another speciality about this region is the temples build by Cholas and Pandyas.
Brahadeeswarar Temple [a.k.a Peruvudaiyar Temple a.k.a Thanjai Periya Koil] is one of the great temples built during the 10th century. The temple was built by Raja Raja Cholan I. Like most temples, this too have walls like the palace to hide and fight against the rivals. The walls seems to be built later duing the 16th century during the Pandiya era.
Some uniqueness about this Temple:
- The Temple Tower was biggest of this kind.
- The Gopuram [Temple Tower] was built in a single rock.
- There are scripts that says that the single rock has been transported from a 6 KM using some special transport facilities.
- The vimana never cast its shadow on the ground @ noon during any time of the year. This is one of the greatest design that takes the suns movement from Tropic of Cancer to the Capricon.
- Nandhi of the Periya avudaiyar is a big one.
The lord Shiva [My Favourite God] is the Periya Aavudayar present in the temple. The Lingam is tall and measures 13 feet in height. Do visit this temple if you happen to be there at Tanjore.
Another interesting place around Thanjavur is the GangaiKondaCholapuram. Hope to visit this place when I am out around this place next time. If anyone have any interesting thing about this place do write.

Today Morning when I got out of bed, I saw myself older by an year. I feel better that I had added one more year of expertise and experience to handle things better.
One of the very good resolution to be taken by every one is the responsiveness to anything happening around you. This will help you a lot in advancing your career.
Hyatt put in one of his old post that responsiveness will keep you on an edge with other people.
Be Responsive
- Respond to your emails
- Return your phone calls
- Keep your promises
- At least send an acknowledgment if you fail to keep

I was traveling back from
Bijapur last November on Train. We got some vaadaa for our snack. A couple of them were on excess and were not able to complete them. I want to give it to the needy and was standing on the door steps of the train. The train moved and I was waiting for it to slow down some where in between so that I can throw it to some animals around there. This was happening for around half an hour. I am loosing my patience slowly and reached a point of throwing it out. I felt a small touch on my lower limbs near the ankle and I left it unnoticed for the first time and was curious to throw the Vaadaa out. I felt it little stronger the next time and turned around to see a gal on the compartment who is physically challenged asking for some help. Without a second thought and in no time, I gave her the pack I had on my hands.
I was really happy that the food went to the needy at last.

Read this article on Business Pundit on What is the mandate for an career oriented person. It is true that people holding great knowledge are respected and had value in the past. Today too such people have values. But the mandate today is to have a social component added to your life. It matters today that you need to be able to talk to different kind of people and get things done for you. The days of having complete manager, managing a team of techies are gone. So to excel make sure you add necessary components to your tech knowledge.
A nice quote added to my friend’s business card.
“The way a thing has been done in the past is not necessarily be the best way to do it today”
