Bijapur - The old city !!!

I was out to Bijapur this Diwali [Nov 7 2007]. Bijapur is a old city on the north borders of Karnataka. The city has history that back to 1500/1600 AD. The couple of days we spent there was very nice. We visited the great Gol Gumbaz which was the mausoleum of the ruler Adhil Shah. The monument has the largest unsupported dome. It also has the capacity to echo the smallest sound you make nine times. The history says that the king has built the monument to bury his remains after his death. The another one was the Imbrahim Rouza. This too is a monument built to hold the remains of the family of the Ahil Shah. Both the monuments hold a mosque for praying inside it. The nicest thing is that the entry fee is very less and the garden around the mausoleum is maintained very well. The king seems to be very interested in building large monuments which is still holding his name even after 400 years.

check out the photos the great monuments

Dust Bins @ Railways

I was traveling the last couple of days from Chennai to Madurai and back. It is really bad to see the absence of dustbins at the railway platforms. There was a canteen [@ Chengalput station] that served some good Vadai and chatney. He is not much bothered to place a waste bin to leave the paper plates after completing the Vadai. At last, I have no other option except throwing the plates on the other platform. The same is the option with the compartments also. There is no waste bin and It is a mandate to throw out through the window to pollute the environment.

Railways should provide enough dust bins across the platform.

Velachery Tambaram Road

The road leading from Velachery to Tambaram is the road taken by me everyday. The road was a very normal one just like the others ones in chennai with all kind of pot holes uneven barricades placed and abnormal patches [which makes the road worser than the pot holes]. Last night the road has been patched in full swing. The bridge on the road near kaiveli has been painted partially for the first time [even it was not painted at the time of inception]. Even the stones kept as barricades are given white colors. The news is nothing but the Velachery MRTS is going to be declared open by the following Monday by the Chief Minister of Mr. MK.Karunanidhi.   I wonder whether this is done due to the MRTS Opening or due to the CM Visit.

Good that Velachery gaining some colors at least on the CM Visit.
